About Vibroacoustic Therapy
A pulsed sinusoidal waveform used in vibroacoustic therapy
Developed in the 1970s and 80s by Olav Skille, Vibroacoustic Therapy has been shown a very effective treatment for a wide variety of conditions and disabilities.
It uses low sound frequencies (30hz - 120hz) played through specially designed speaker systems installed in a bed or chair which the client lies or sits on. The speakers (commonly called transducers) translate the low frequency sound into vibrations which are felt through the body.
Since low frequency soundwaves are very long (a tone at 30hz is nearly 40 feet in length!) we can see that the sound energy is moving through the body, and thus is giving an internal massage for all the organs and systems inside our bodies.
It feels really good, very relaxing and has been described as an almost 'womblike' experience; it also has a profound healing action as has been shown in scientific research.
